Camping Weekend

What a wonderful weekend we had! We went camping at Jubilee State Park. Jeff took the day off Friday so we went in the morning to set up camp. We chose a nice spot nestled in among some trees. Emma's last day of summer school was that day so we went back to get her after lunch. While driving back to camp from picking her up, a thunderstorm rolled through and the temperature stayed in the upper 70's - low 80's. It was supposed to be 90's. Later that night, about 1:30 am, it started storming. It stormed until about 5:30 am. Big wind, big thunder, lots of lightning. Not the kind of weather you really like to camp in. After 5:30 though, it stopped.

Saturday was fun. It was Emma's birthday. I can't believe my girl is 15. Mary Rose had a birthday party to go to in town so while she was there, Jeff and I took Emma birthday shopping. We ended up at the mall in Hollister. She got some good deals though. We also went to Gloria Jeans and bought her a fru fru coffee/ice cream thing with whipped cream. After picking up Mary Rose (and a slight head injury for the birthday girl at the play ground) we went shopping again for swimsuits - clearance, you know, and then to Steak and Shake for Em's birthday dinner. We went back to camp for the evening. I think she had a wonderful day.

While we were in Steak and Shake, a cold front came through and it was actually chilly. Funny how that can happen. We ended up turning on the heat in the camper overnight. I know, we're whimps, but if you have it, you may as well use it! Today was the most beautiful day! Very clean and about 80. So, aside from a few thunderstorms at night and when we were away from camp, the weather was awesome. The girls did some fishing, they played at the playground and we hiked a bit. All in all, a wonderful weekend!
